| BILL JOSLIN...MAGICIAN / DISC JOCKEY
To say that Bill Joslin loves magic, is an understatement. When he was eight years old his parents took him to San Francisco to see his first magician..It was Harry Blackstone Sr. Well, that did it. From then on he practiced magic night and day.. During school he would do tricks for his classmates and after he finished school he went into the Marines.. He entertained troops in Korea and when he finally got stationed in Southern California, he became a professional dancer. He danced in competion and also in the movies.. Many times on the set he would entertain the actors with a little magic. When he left the marines he moved to the San Francisco Bay area, where he found out about a little club called the "Magic Cellar". When he could, he worked there, as well as doing private parties and coorperate functions.. Many weekends when the weather was nice, you could find him at Fishermans Wharf doing street magic. Finally in the mid 1960's while visiting Los Angeles, he heard about the Magic Castle. He visited the Castle, where he met such excellent performers such as Dai Vernon, Larry Jennings, Kuda Bux, and others. So in the early 1970's he packed up and moved to Los Angeles area. At first he lived right across from Universal Studios, where he spent much of his time, doing magic and extra work..The rest of the time he was at the Magic Castle. He has been performing at the Magic Castle regularly since 1972, and even to this day on Friday and Saturday nights, when he isnt working somewhere you can find him at his little special corner where he entertains anyone waiting to get into the showrooms. For small parties, Bill performs marvelous close-up magic. Audiences dont just watch Bill's show, they become part of it. Lots of audience participation and fun. Bill needs to be seen to be believed. Not just an excellent closeup magician but very personable and polite. On stage, his parlour magic ranges from comedy magic to mentalism. And even when doing the parlour magic, Bill builds a strong rapport with his audiences. He is also excellent with children. He does many school shows where he makes sure the children, as well as adults have a wonderful magic experience. It comes down to a time of universally appealing entertainment because it is fun' Volunteers are always treated with respect and actually become stars of the show. Whether Bill is having fun with a volunteer from the audience, making someone laugh with some hilarious situation,or astounding people with his incredible magic, Bill's goal is to make you feel good if your watching, look good if your helping, by presenting a performance that everyone will love and remember for a long time. As a disc jockey, when Bill moved to the San Francisco area he met many dancers and found the music for some of the dance clubs was not up to par. Loving music and dance he immediately started programing his music library so he would be able to do a very good job for any kind of audience. He has D.J'd for dance clubs, private parties, cooporate functions all over the state of California. His music ranges from rap to big band. As in his magic performances, he is very personable, polite and again his goal is to make sure people have a wonderful time.
